Manic Focus releases “Just Like You,” the final advance single off of his newest full-length LP, Lost in a Digital World, slated for a September 12th release. Lost in a Digital World is his sixth full-length album, and the first since 2017’s Minds Rising.
Manic Focus, known off stage as John McCarten, began writing this track while touring across the U.S. in 2017. Inspired by his love for hip-hop, the composition starts off with an energetic progression of trap-style sounds, builds into arpeggiated strings, fierce synth, and sprinkled with manipulated vocals throughout.
“Just Like You is a tune I’m very excited about. I’ve always been a fan of stringed instruments, and I wanted to capture an uptempo string rhythm with a synth. The result is a classical inspired hip-hop electronic beat that I love playing live.”
– John McCarten (Manic Focus)
The producer has been busy this summer, having already released three singles ahead of the full album release. ”Just Like You” comes on the heels of “Lyrebird” that dropped on July 31st, which featured the feathery keys of Borahm Lee (Pretty Lights Music/Break Science) and the crooning saxophone of Dominic Lalli (Big Gigantic), garnering praise from Billboard as one of the best new dance tracks and a “perfect piece of jazzy atmosphere to lift you toward blue skies.”
Lost in a Digital World features 100% original, sample-free material and live instrumentation from McCarten, further cementing himself in the upper echelon of producers and bringing his music to a wider audience spanning across multiple genres. The LP will include appearances from Dominic Lalli (Big Gigantic), Protohype, Russ Liquid, Borahm Lee (Pretty Lights Music/Break Science), and Psalm One, to name a few from the eclectic lineup.
